Classic Furniture Designer

Inspired from the Sofa Range designed by Le Corbusier 1887 - 1965

Charles Edouard Jeanneret was born in Switzerland, he was a highly skilled and won prices as a watch engraver He then changed his profession and name for 'Le Corbusier' and became a reknown designer and architect..

In 1910 he became an apprentice at the reknown studios of Peter Behrens in Berlin (this is also where Mies van der Rohe and Walter Gropius worked and trained). After this period he came back to Switzerland to focus on architecture, which he both taught and practised.

Le Corbusier's first milestone of innovative and inspirational creation was the "Domino House". Le Corbusier used reinforced concrete (supported by steel pillars) which replaced the usual confining supporting walls. He was the innovator of 'the open plan' interior.
